The Flume Riders Tee
The Flume Riders Tee (1875)
The Vibe: "The Mountains Surfed First." In 1885, surfing arrived at the Santa Cruz river mouth. But upriver, the loggers of the San Lorenzo Valley were already carving lines. This design pays tribute to the "Flume Herders" who rode custom V-shaped sleds (known as "Go-Devils") down the 15-mile timber chute from Boulder Creek to Felton at speeds hitting 60mph. No wetsuits. No leashes. Just redwood and nerve.
We designed this tee with a vintage 1880s woodcut aesthetic and "Outlaw" typography to capture the danger and grit of the valley's industrial past.
The Gear: Printed on a Comfort Colors 1717 Heavyweight Tee. This isn't a thin, cheap promo shirt. It is 6.1oz of 100% ring-spun cotton that has been garment-dyed for a vintage, ultra-soft, lived-in feel from day one. Boxy, relaxed fit. Built to last decades, not just a season.
